Appointment to Kenya Anti-Counterfeiting Authority – International Trade and Investment

The Kenya Anti-Counterfeiting Authority has announced the appointment on June 2, 2022 of Mr. Yussuf Osman Ahmed as Director of the Enforcement Directorate.

Mr. Osman started his position as an investigator and prosecutor in the Department of Weights and Measures of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry from 2000. He joined the Anti-Counterfeiting Authority in 2010 as an anti-counterfeiting inspector. -Counterfeit II and rose through the ranks until becoming Regional Manager Eldoret in 2016 and Regional Manager (Mombasa) in 2018.

Acting Executive Director, Ms. Fridah Kaberia, said “Osman brings a wealth of experience to her new strategic leadership role in managing the core function of the Compliance Branch. Her primary responsibility will be to lead and coordinate the enforcement function of the Authority with regard to the protection of Intellectual Property among other duties”

His appointment follows the government’s renewed efforts in the war against illicit trade, including the establishment of multi-agency illicit trade task forces from government agencies tasked with combating illicit trade. Mr. Osman is expected to play a pivotal role in promoting inter-agency collaboration in policy implementation and operational coordination in the fight against counterfeit and illicit trade in Kenya.
