Dingwall-based Fresh Marketing and local businessman Alex Matheson celebrate after receiving the coveted Queens Award for Enterprise for International Trade.

Now in its 56th year, the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the nation’s most prestigious business awards, with winning companies eligible to use the prestigious Queen’s Awards emblem.

They celebrate the success of exciting and innovative companies that lead the way with pioneering products or services, deliver impressive international business, and show their commitment to excellent sustainability practices.

Each of the winners went through a rigorous selection process before the jury awarded the Royal Warrant, which previous winners say has resulted in worldwide recognition.

Alex Matheson, co-founder of Fresh Marketing, said, “We are thrilled to have received this incredible recognition. The past few years have been particularly difficult, especially with regard to export, and I would like to thank our very ambitious, experienced and dedicated team for sailing so well. This Queen’s Award is globally recognized as a standard of excellence and we hope it will help to reassure our customers that we will do whatever it takes to bring them the best of British food and drink.

Established in 2006, Fresh Marketing operates as a ‘collective’ export distributor for several fast growing and trending UK food brands. These brands share a common desire to innovate, lead and, most importantly, achieve B-Corporation status – they are companies that meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability by placing objective beyond mere profit.

In 2012, Fresh Marketing incubated its own brand, FUEL10K, which is now the fastest growing breakfast brand in the UK. FUEL10K achieved B Corp accreditation in March 2021 and supplies all UK retailers and other channels with granola, porridge and breakfast drinks. Focusing on a collection of principled brands gives them an unrivaled springboard to major international retailers, foodservice sites and online stores around the world.

“I’m so proud of the role we play in establishing footholds around the world for the brands we work with. The UK is a hotbed of food and drink innovation. We should be proud of that as a nation. We are so advanced in ideation and energy thanks to a thriving entrepreneurial spirit and the encouragement to “try”.

“We have grown well in recent years despite the chaos around us from Brexit, Covid and now war-related inflation. The key to success is working with products that taste good, feel good, look great, and are reasonably priced. This award is a testament to the skills and dedication of our entire team, our suppliers, our customers and all the other stakeholders around us.

Fresh Marketing exports to over 40 countries around the world with progressive British food brands such as FUEL10K (or of course), Deliciously Ella, Forest Feast, Candy Kittens and Manomasa to name but a few.

Providing a full export service for supplier and customer, Fresh Marketing makes it easier for overseas consumers to benefit from UK food innovation.
