Anne-Marie Trevelyan, MP, Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Chamber of Commerce, opened this year’s Medilink North of England Healthcare Business Awards as the company celebrated its 25th anniversary.

Addressing the event via recorded video, MP Anne-Marie Trevelyan congratulated the candidates saying:

“As Secretary of State for International Trade, I am proud to uphold our leadership and support the Prime Minister’s challenge for the UK to become a global science superpower. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, I am reliably informed that the quality and range of nominees for this year’s awards have been exceptional.

The annual event, held on May 12 in York, brought together life science and medtech organizations from across the north of England to celebrate their successes over the past 12 months. Despite the challenges of the past two years, fantastic achievements have been made across the sector, which has seen a significant number of organizations working together and improving patient care.

Winners were announced in nine categories and included several leading companies in the North, such as QuantuMDx Group, GBUK Group, Synopsis Health, Inhealthcare, Neotherix, Circular1 Health, LightOx, Eventum Orthopedics and Paxman.

Tom Elliott, Managing Director of Medilink, spoke of the awards ceremony: “Congratulations to all of the shortlisted organizations, and in particular to this year’s award winners. It has been a privilege to join these companies and celebrate their achievements and the phenomenal 20-year commitment to Medilink as Chairman of the Board of Gareth Lloyd-Jones.

The evening took on a double twist as Medilink celebrated its 25th anniversary of fostering industry excellence in the North and bringing together the region’s talent and innovation in healthcare and life sciences.

From its inception in 1992 until its incorporation in 1997, Medilink has worked to improve patient care by linking the NHS, academia and industry.

Speaking of the anniversary, Tom said: “This 25th anniversary marks an important milestone for the business. Medilink was incorporated 25 years ago and our sustainability is ensured by the responsiveness of organizations to the needs of the sector.

“The continued focus on transforming healthcare through the support of industry experts is something Medilink has successfully delivered over the past quarter century and something I am proud to have been a part of and that I pledge to support for many years to come.”
