Leading UK microbiological testing and regulatory specialist, Bury’s MSL Solution Providers, has been awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade.
Celebrating business excellence across the UK, this year 226 organizations were recognized for their contribution to international trade, innovation, sustainability and fostering opportunity (through social mobility).
MSL Solution Providers, based in Gollinrod in Walmersley, has been praised for its outstanding near-term growth as well as its international business.
Just three years ago, the company served 25 countries. Today, about half of its business comes from export sales to about 60 countries.
MSL Solution Providers was founded in 2001 and is one of the UK’s leading microbiological testing and regulatory companies specializing in the cosmetics, personal care and household cleaning markets.
Over the past 20 years, the company has grown into a team of more than 30 people who collectively own at least 51% of the company after it transitioned to an employee ownership model in 2019.
Carolyn Burney, Managing Director of MSL Solution Providers, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been recognized by Her Majesty The Queen.
“Winning the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, for International Trade is a true honor and a testament to the hard work, passion and commitment of the entire team.
“I’m so proud of this achievement – it’s a real team effort so thank you!
“Special thanks must also go to Founder Angela Davies and Chairman, Mark Fenn.
“Both recently retired from day-to-day running of the business, but their inspiration and hard work lives on and we celebrate this distinction with them today.”
The business will be visited later this year by the Lord-Lieutenant of the County, where they will receive a nomination grant and a commemorative crystal trophy.
Additionally, founder Angela Davies represented the company at a royal reception held at Buckingham Palace on July 12 this year.
Now in its 56th year, the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the nation’s most prestigious business awards, with winning companies able to fly the Queen’s Awards flag at their headquarters and use the Queen’s Awards emblem for the next five years.
