1 A new one-year course puts graduates on the path to success in international business, covering everything from marketing to distribution. The graduation ceremony took place on July 6, 2022 in Accra at Africa House, the headquarters of the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.
2 The place emphasized how their studies will promote the integration of the region.
3 The online course is designed to bridge an educational gap around international business, with in-person support from the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA).
4 Together with ICC and the UKfrom the Institute for Export and International Trade (IoE&IT), the three organizations collaborated for three years to implement the program.
5 “This is an important moment for ITC as it represents the first step in a vision to close the education gap in international trade,” said Shaun Lake, Senior e-Learning Advisor of the ITC.
6 Among the cohort of motivated students, nine received diplomas for successfully completing the full one-year programme, and another 10 received partial certificates for completing individual modules.
seven At the event, Ghana’s Deputy Minister of Commerce, Herbert Krapa urged the new graduates to use their knowledge to take advantage of the growing business opportunities in Africa.
8 Afua Asabea Asare, Executive Director of GEPA, commended the fruitful collaboration in delivering high-quality, multi-faceted training that prepared graduates to work in international trade.
9 She said, “Graduates will be able to transform Ghana’s natural resources and raw materials into manufactured economic wealth.
ten I want to believe I’m looking at the next generation of entrepreneurial minds. Kevin Shakespeare, Director of Strategic Projects and International Development for IoE&IT, congratulated the graduates for their excellent performance.
11 As a tutor for all participants, he also commented on the excellent results of some of the top participants.
12 The Diploma in International Business program is already on track to have more graduates in Ghana, with a second cohort of students approaching their own graduation date, and enrollment is now open for a third cohort.
13 The Diploma in International Business was developed in 2020 to meet the training needs of professionals and small businesses in developing countries.
14 The program consists of four modules: • Business Environment • International Trade Finance • International Marketing • International Physical Distribution
