Held at Wilton Park near Steyning in West Sussex, the SussExport event showed local business leaders the help available to achieve their global ambitions, including through the Department for International Trade.
Mr Jayawardena said: ‘Sussex is a hotbed of brilliant businesses producing a variety of quality British goods. It is home to many tech pioneers, its food and drink is quickly becoming a staple around the world, and its manufacturing industry continues to go from strength to strength.
“More exports means more jobs, more growth and more opportunity – in Sussex and across Britain – and I’m delighted we’re helping these businesses sell in markets far beyond our shores and reach their full potential.”
Businesses were welcomed to the day by Wilton Park Chairman Gisela Stuart, Managing Director, Exports and UK Trade Department for International Trade Andrew Mitchell, and MP for Arundel and South Downs Andrew Griffith, and Managing Director of Wilton ParkTom Cargil.
SussExport is a unique event for local businesses to engage with Sussex’s growth story. As well as being a showcase for the best of Sussex’s export business, the one-day event offers businesses the opportunity to engage with ministers, business leaders and trade ambassadors and share their story about what it takes to deliver Sussex-made products to the global market with its challenges and opportunities.
